Failure to comply with the deadline may result in financial penalties of up to EUR 5,000.

The Cyprus Department of Registrar of Companies and Intellectual Property (DRCIP) mandated on 25 August 2025 that all companies established or registered under the Companies Law confirm their beneficial owner (BO) details in the Beneficial Owners Register (BOR) system between 1 October 2025 and 31 December 2025.

Non-compliance with the deadline may result in financial penalties, starting with EUR 100 on the first day and EUR 50 for each subsequent day, with a maximum penalty of EUR 5,000.

Earlier, the DRCIP announced several amendments to The Prevention and Suppression of Money Laundering (Amendment) (No. 2) Law of 2024, which was published on 6 December 2024.

The amendment updated rules on the electronic registration of beneficial owners and requires changes to be made via the online portal. It also introduced stricter penalties, including director or CEO liability, daily fines starting at EUR 50, and a maximum penalty of EUR 5,000 per entity.
