Croatia has recently passed a number of new laws and regulations in connection with its entry to the European Union (EU). On 23 July 2013, the Ordinance regulating excise duty on energy products entered into force in Croatia. With its entry to the European Union on 1 July, Croatia applies the system of excise duties on energy products and electricity in compliance with European Union regulations. Excise duty on energy products is amended as follows:
Leaded petrol HRK 4,000 (previously, HRK 3,801) and unleaded petrol HRK 3,360 (previously, HRK 3,151); gas oil for motor fuels HRK 2,560 (previously, HRK 2,354); and kerosene petroleum for motor fuels HRK 2,560 (previously, HRK 2,243).
