In a release on 25 October 2024, Croatia’s Ministry of Finance announced that the delegations of Croatia and Australia had completed negotiations for an income tax treaty to eliminate double taxation on income and prevent tax evasion and avoidance between Croatia and Australia.

Negotiations between the two countries started on 21 October 2024 and were headed by Dalibor Legco, the head of the Croatian delegation, and Ronita Ram, the head of the Australian delegation.

After completing the negotiations, both countries will start their internal procedures to enable the signing of the Treaty and its subsequent confirmation in their parliaments. After the Agreement is confirmed and enacted, it will stimulate new and intensify existing cooperation between the two countries.

If signed, the tax treaty will be the first between the two countries and must be signed and ratified before entering into force.
