Costa Rica has published Law 10586 – Tax Simplification to Increase Efficiency and Competitiveness (Phase 1), in the official gazette no. 195 on 3 December 2024, eliminating various taxes, including those on cattle cutting and importation, as well as several stamps like the Ciudad de las Niñas, rehabilitation, and fiscal stamps.
The law also introduces a 5% tax on the value of tickets sold in Costa Rica for international travel, whether by air or land. Previously, it applied to all forms of international passenger transportation, but now it is restricted to these two methods.
The fiscal stamp was applicable to various private documents, such as contracts and powers of attorney, as well as commercial accounting records and judicial documents.
