China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that China and Peru officials convened on 12 May 2025 to discuss bilateral cooperation, including plans to negotiate and sign an income tax treaty.
This treaty seeks to prevent double taxation and tax evasion, promoting economic integration between China and Peru.
If finalised, this would be the first tax treaty between the two countries and must be signed and ratified to go into effect.
Earlier, officials from China and Peru met in November 2024 for the second round of negotiations for an income tax treaty. Their first round of tax treaty negotiations took place on 31 May 2024.
