Cameroon’s Senate has approved the ratification of the income tax treaty with China on 8 April 2025.

Signed on 17 October 2023, this treaty is the first of its kind between the two nations and aims to eliminate double taxation on income and prevent tax evasion and avoidance between Cameroon and China.

The signing of this tax treaty comes in the wake of the Cameroonian government’s launch of several mineral projects of key interest to China, including the Mbalam-Nabeba iron ore project spanning Cameroon and Congo.

It will enter into force after the exchange of ratification instruments.
