The amending protocol to the Brazil-Sweden Income Tax Treaty (1975) will take effect on 13 June 2025, however withholding and other taxes will take effect on 1 January 2026 for.
Signed on 19 March 2019, the protocol updates the treaty to meet the minimum BEPS standards and introduces additional changes.
The treaty promotes information exchange, prevents double taxation, and combats tax evasion and avoidance.
Earlier, Brazil’s Congress approved the amending protocol to the 1975 Brazil-Sweden Income Tax Treaty on 5 May 2025.
