Any resulting tax treaty will be the first such treaty between Brazil and Cyprus.
Brazil and Cyprus have taken a step toward strengthening their bilateral relations by expressing mutual interest in initiating negotiations for a tax treaty.
This development occurred on 12 September 2025, during a formal ceremony in Nicosia, where Brazil’s newly appointed ambassador presented their credentials to the President of Cyprus.
If successfully negotiated, this agreement would mark the first such treaty between the two nations.
However, the treaty would need to go through the necessary steps of finalisation, signing, and ratification before it could take effect.
