Belarus and China have signed a free trade agreement – strengthening cooperation in a range of sectors including trade, security, energy and finance, in services and investments – on 22 August 2024.

China is Belarus’s second-largest trading partner and its largest in Asia with bilateral trade surpassing USD 8.4 billion last year.

Belarus was among the first countries to respond to China’s Belt and Road Initiative, this agreement is set to further unlock cooperation potential.

The announcement was published by China’s Foreign Ministry on Friday, 23 August 2024.
