The proposed budget for the fiscal year of 2024/25 suggests an increase in Value Added Tax (VAT) on SIM/eSIM cards, rising from BDT 200 to BDT 300.

The supplementary duty on SIM-enabled telecommunication services has been elevated to 20%, marking a significant shift from the previous 15%.

“I propose to fix 20% supplementary duty only upon the SIM/RUIM card enabled mobile telecom service instead of existing 15%,” said Abul Hassan Mahmood Ali, Minister of Finance, during his budget speech.

The proposed budget for the fiscal year 2024/25 was presented at the Parliament, today, 6 June, 2024.
