Bangladesh’s NBR will allow year-round Personal Income Tax (PIT) filing, with first-quarter submissions potentially eligible for incentives. Over 50 lakh taxpayers are registered on the e-Return system, and more than 42.5 lakh returns have been filed online.
Bangladesh’s National Board of Revenue (NBR) will allow taxpayers to submit Personal Income Tax (PIT) returns throughout the year, NBR Chairman Md Abdur Rahman Khan announced. The move is aimed at making the filing process more flexible and convenient.
Chairman Khan said returns filed in the first quarter (July–September) may receive incentives. Normal tax rates will apply for submissions in the second quarter (October–December), while late filings in the third and fourth quarters could face additional charges. Specific details on incentives and penalties have not been disclosed.
Currently, taxpayers must submit returns by November without penalty after the fiscal year ends in June. Failure to file on time results in fines, interest, and loss of eligibility for investment-related tax rebates.
For the 2025–2026 tax year, the Personal Income Tax (PIT) returns deadline ended on 31 March after several extensions. Over 50 lakh individual taxpayers are registered on the NBR’s e-Return system, with more than 42.5 lakh returns submitted online.
Earlier, NBR extended the deadline for filing 2025–2026 Personal Income Tax (PIT) returns. Taxpayers now have until 31 March 2026 to submit their returns online through the e-Return system.
