NBR has extended the PIT deadline for filing 2025–26 income tax returns to 31 March 2026, allowing taxpayers an additional 90 days if they apply for an extension online.

The National Board of Revenue (NBR) has extended the deadline for filing 2025–2026 Personal Income Tax (PIT) returns. Taxpayers now have until 31 March 2026 to submit their returns online through the e-Return system.

This announcement was made on 16 March 2026.

The extension allows taxpayers who apply before 31 March 2026 to receive an additional 90 days to complete their filings. The NBR has urged taxpayers to use the online system to request the extension, ensuring a faster, transparent, and streamlined process.

Registered users must log in to the e-Return system and select the “Time Extension” option. Applications will be approved or rejected by the relevant tax commissioner.

Once approved, returns and any due taxes, penalties, or interest can be submitted online within the extended period.

While e-filing is mandatory for registered taxpayers, those not registered may request an extension either online or by submitting a physical application to their tax commissioner.
