On 22 March 2020, the National Board of Revenue (NBR) issued an SRO and declared that the government has waived the import duty and taxes on 12 medical items in response to Covid-19 pandemic.
It waived the full import duty, regulatory duty, supplementary duty, VAT and advance income tax on medical items under 17 HS codes which will remain in force until June 30.
Medical items include Isopropyl Alcohol, COVID-19 test kit, instrument and apparatus, disinfectant, three-layer surgical mask, protective garments made from plastic sheeting and those for surgical or medical purposes, plastic face shields, full body woven suit impregnated with plastics, medical protective gear, spectacles and goggles.
