Any resulting income tax treaty will be the first between the two nations.
Officials from Azerbaijan and Oman convened on 8 October 2025 to explore opportunities for strengthening economic and investment ties, as reported by the Oman News Agency.
A key focus of the discussions was the potential establishment of an income tax treaty, which would mark the first such agreement between Azerbaijan and Oman. The initial round of negotiations for this treaty took place in early 2024.
The two sides discussed means of developing commercial and investment relations between Oman and Azerbaijan. They reviewed cooperation opportunities in several areas, including air freight, investment in the agricultural and energy sectors, as well as mining, fertilisers, and other fields. They also discussed establishing joint investments.
Any resulting agreement will need to go through the processes of finalisation, signing, and ratification before it can take effect.
