Austria’s Federal Council approved the CBCR Publication Act (CBCR-VG) on 11 July 2024, following earlier approval by the National Council.

This new law aligns with EU Directive 2021/2101, requiring public disclosure of Country-by-Country (CbC) reports. Companies must publish these reports if their consolidated annual revenue exceeds EUR 750 million over the past two fiscal years.

Entities covered include ultimate parent companies meeting the threshold and unaffiliated firms with significant international operations. Reports must be submitted to the commercial register within 12 months after the fiscal year-end.

While German is the primary language, English is accepted for submissions from branches or subsidiaries.

To protect commercial interests, the Act allows temporary omissions of sensitive information from public reports. However, such information must be disclosed in subsequent reports within five years.

The Act will become effective one day after its publication in the Official Gazette and these reporting requirements apply to financial years starting after 21 June 2024.
