Argentina will scrap import tariffs on mobile phones and reduce excise duties on other electronic products. Presidential Spokesperson Manuel Adorni says that this initiative will reduce crime, smuggling and lower prices for consumers.

The 16% tariff on mobile phones will be cut to 8% immediately after a decree is issued, then completely removed by 15 January 2026.

Taxes on imported electronics such as phones, TVs, and air conditioners will drop from 19% to 9.5%. For items made in Tierra del Fuego, taxes will be reduced from 9.5% to zero.

Adorni states that this decision is part of President Milei’s campaign pledge to slash taxes.

“As President Javier Milei pledged at the start of his administration, as the fiscal surplus consolidates, taxes will continue to be reduced. The money the state steals from people through taxes must be returned to Argentines’ pockets,” he said.
