Bolivia has extended its Tax Relief programme deadline, giving taxpayers until 31 December 2026 to settle outstanding tax and customs obligations with full forgiveness of interest, fines, and penalties under specified payment options.
Bolivia’s government announced on 16 September 2026 that it has extended the tax regularisation deadline to 31 December 2026. The extension came through Supreme Decree No. 5708 and affects the Tax Relief programme established by Law No. 1733, passed on 27 May 2026.
The original deadline of 23 September 2026 covered a 120-day window. Government officials extended this period after business groups and community organisations requested additional time for taxpayers to resolve outstanding obligations with the National Tax Service and National Customs.
Two payment options available
Taxpayers can choose between two approaches. Those who pay in cash receive a 50% discount on value maintenance charges and full forgiveness of interest, fines, and penalties.
Alternatively, taxpayers can arrange payment through up to 36 monthly instalments, with the owed tax amount recalculated to the publication date of Law No. 1733. Interest, penalties, and fines are waived under this option as well.
Focus on economic recovery
The National Tax Service (SIN) framed the extension as a tool to strengthen the country’s economic position. By allowing more taxpayers to settle their debts on favourable terms, the government aims to increase revenue collection while reducing outstanding obligations that have accumulated across sectors.
