Greece has extended tax payment deadlines and suspended collection of overdue tax debts for businesses and professionals in Lesvos affected by the Foot-and-Mouth Disease outbreak and related veterinary measures.
Greece’s Independent Authority for Public Revenue (AADE) has introduced tax relief measures for businesses and professionals in Lesvos that suffered financial losses following the outbreak of Foot-and-Mouth Disease and the implementation of veterinary measures. The measures were announced in a joint press release issued in Athens on 2 September 2026 by the Ministry of National Economy and Finance, Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Rural Development and Food and the Independent Authority for Public Revenue (AADE).
Under Joint Ministerial Decision (A. 1174/2026), payment deadlines are being extended and the collection of assessed tax debts is being suspended for individuals, legal persons and legal entities operating in Lesvos in the sectors of cheese production and hoofed animals for slaughter.
Payment deadlines extended
The payment deadlines for debts assessed by the AADE that fall or fell due from 15 March 2026 to 31 December 2026, inclusive, have been extended until 31 December 2026.
The measure applies to the affected taxpayers covered by the Joint Ministerial Decision.
Collection of overdue debts suspended
Payment of debts assessed by the AADE and overdue as of 15 March 2026 is suspended from 15 March 2026 to 31 December 2026, inclusive.
The decision also extends instalments under existing arrangements for payment in instalments. Instalments that fall or fell due from 15 March 2026 to 31 December 2026, inclusive, will be extended beyond the expiry of the current repayment arrangement.
