Hong Kong and Peru will implement their FTA from 1 September 2026, expanding tariff-free trade, services access, and investment protections between the two economies.
The free trade agreement (FTA) between Hong Kong and Peru, signed on 15 November 2024, will enter into force on 1 September 2026, following completion of internal procedures by both jurisdictions, according to a release by the Hong Kong government on 25 August 2026.
As per the agreement, Peru will remove tariffs on 98.3% of its tariff lines affecting Hong Kong exports. Of this figure, 91.3% will see immediate tariff elimination, while the remaining 7% will be phased out over agreed periods.
Hong Kong service providers gain access to over 150 sectors under the agreement, including professional services, information technology, research and development, financial services, and transport.
