Argentina's customs authority unveiled a streamlined postal import regime raising duty-free thresholds to USD 400 per shipment and allowing advance digital clearance to cut processing delays.
Argentina’s Customs Collection and Control Agency (ARCA) announced on 30 July 2026 that it approved a new regime for international postal shipments entering the country through the designated postal operator, including door-to-door services.
The regime, established by General Resolution 5884/2026 and published in the Official Gazette, aligns the tax treatment of non-commercial postal imports with the simplified regime applicable to PSP/Courier services. It also increases the duty-free allowance for eligible shipments and implements the provisions of Decree No. 604/26.
What changed for buyers
Individual shoppers now qualify for duty-free treatment on up to five shipments annually, provided each stays under USD 400. Once shipments exceed that threshold or the yearly limit, excess value faces standard import duties.
The maximum FOB value per package is USD 3,000. Items must be for personal use, limited to three units of the same product per shipment, and bypassing third-party inspections required under previous rules.
How it works now
ARCA moved from manual inspection at arrival to advance digital validation. Customs receives shipment data before the package lands in the country, cutting processing delays and paperwork.
The unified procedure covers both traditional postal services and door-to-door operations, creating one simplified track for e-commerce deliveries instead of handling them separately.
