Morocco and Kenya held their inaugural Joint Cooperation Commission on 9 April 2026, signing eleven bilateral agreements across key sectors while committing to fast-track negotiations for an income tax treaty.

Morocco’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that the first session of the Joint Cooperation Commission between Morocco and Kenya took place on 9 April 2026, where officials agreed to expedite negotiations for an income tax treaty.

If an agreement is reached, it will help prevent double taxation and fiscal evasion. The treaty will have to be finalised, signed, and ratified by both governments before its implementation.

The session also resulted in the signing of eleven bilateral agreements spanning multiple sectors including agriculture, justice, healthcare, maritime fisheries, gender equality, cultural exchange, higher education, sports, and wildlife conservation.

Both nations acknowledged the urgent need to address current trade imbalances while expanding market access for agricultural products and value-added goods.

This follows after Officials from Morocco and Kenya announced both parties are continuing negotiations to establish an income tax treaty.
