Bangladesh’s National Board of Revenue has extended deadlines for 2025‑26 corporate income tax and February 2026 VAT returns, giving companies extra time to submit due to system delays and upcoming public holidays.

Bangladesh’s National Board of Revenue (NBR) has announced extensions for key tax return submissions, offering businesses additional time to complete mandatory filings.

For the 2025-26 tax year, companies now have until 15 April 2026 to submit their income tax returns, a one-month extension from the previous deadline of 15 March. The move follows formal requests from multiple business sectors seeking extra time to meet filing obligations.

Separately, the deadline for online Value Added Tax (VAT) returns for the February 2026 period has been extended by one week. Taxpayers must now submit their returns by 29 March 2026. NBR cited difficulties caused by the slow performance of the e-VAT system as a factor in granting the additional time.

The board noted that the extensions were granted in the public interest, considering upcoming government holidays for Eid al-Fitr and Independence Day. The VAT deadline adjustment was issued under the authority of Sub-section (1a) of Section 64 of the Value Added Tax and Supplementary Duty Act, 2012.

These measures aim to ease compliance pressures on businesses while ensuring timely and accurate tax submissions.
