Tax Administration updated special consumption tax (SCT) rates for various petroleum products, effective 11 March 2026, following adjustments to fuel pricing. The changes affect unleaded gasoline, diesel, LPG, propane, and butane.
Turkey’s Tax Administration has issued revised Special Consumption Tax (SCT) rates for certain petroleum products, following the reinstatement of the fuel price stabilisation mechanism. The decision, based on Presidential Decision No. 10995 of 4 March 2026, comes amid rising geopolitical tensions in the Gulf region, which have driven up global oil prices and expanded refinery margins.
The SCT amounts are set per litre or kilogram, depending on fuel type and composition. High-octane unleaded gasoline is taxed higher than diesel, with separate categories for 95 and 98 octane variants. The update also covers liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and gaseous fuels like propane and butane. Products are classified using G.T.İ.P. (HS) codes, providing a clear tax framework aligned with national economic and environmental policies.
