The Mercosur-Singapore Free Trade Agreement enters into force for Paraguay on 1 February 2026 and Uruguay on 1 March 2026. It lowers tariffs, sets trade rules, and supports services, investment, e-commerce, SMEs, and sustainable development.
The Mercosur-Singapore Free Trade Agreement (MCSFTA) enters into force for Paraguay from 1 February 2026 and Uruguay from 1 March 2026.
It is the first trade deal between Singapore and the founding Mercosur members – Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay, and Uruguay – and Mercosur’s first agreement with a Southeast Asian country.
The deal aims to boost trade by eliminating tariffs on about 96% of products over 15 years, providing immediate tariff-free access for around 25% of goods.
It also sets clear rules of origin, allows regional cumulation, and ensures fair access for Singaporean companies in Mercosur government procurement.
Beyond goods, the agreement supports trade in services, investment, digitalisation, e-commerce, and SME development.
It also simplifies customs procedures and promotes sustainable development. The MCSFTA will enter into force for Argentina and Brazil once their ratification processes are complete.
