The Ugandan Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development, announced, on 19 February 2026, that officials from Uganda and France met to hold the second round of negotiations for a tax treaty.
The ongoing negotiations aim to create a framework for taxing income between Uganda and France, reducing the tax burden on entities operating in both countries.
DTAs also promote cooperation between tax authorities through information sharing, supporting efforts to combat tax evasion and improve compliance.
If an agreement is reached, the treaty must be finalised, signed, and ratified by both nations before it can enter into force.
Earlier, French and Ugandan officials held the first round of negotiations for an income tax treaty in Kampala, Uganda, during the week of 23 June 2025.
