The tax registration reform aims to reduce administrative burdens and streamline the process for foreign entities operating in Russia.
The Russian State Duma has approved amendments to Articles 83 and 84 of the Russian Tax Code to simplify the tax registration process for foreign companies.
Under the new rules, foreign organisations no longer need to submit separate applications or documents to the tax authorities when opening a bank account in Russia. Registration will now rely solely on the bank’s application.
From 1 September 2026, tax authorities will register the foreign company within five days of receiving the bank’s application. The reform is designed to reduce administrative burdens and streamline the process for foreign entities operating in Russia.
President Vladimir Putin signed the Federal Law on 17 November 2025 introducing these changes.
