Starting 10 November, China will reduce tariffs on certain US agricultural products.

China announced plans today, 5 October 2025, to suspend some of the retaliatory tariffs it imposed on US imports, following a recent meeting between the leaders of the two nations.

Starting 10 November, China will lift duties of up to 15% on certain US agricultural products. However, a 13% tariff on US soybean imports will remain in place, making them less competitive compared to Brazilian alternatives.

Despite the tariff adjustments, US soybean exports to China have significantly declined, with China sourcing only 20% of its soybeans from the US in 2024, compared to 41% in 2016. High tariffs have led China to largely avoid US crops this year, resulting in billions of dollars in lost revenue for American farmers.

Additionally, China’s cabinet announced a one-year suspension of the 24% extra tariffs it had imposed on US goods in April 2025.
