Taiwan and Singapore first signed an income tax treaty in 1981.
Taiwan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced, on 19 August 2025, that negotiations to update the 1981 tax treaty with Singapore are ongoing.
Although specific updates were not disclosed, it is expected that the negotiations will lead to finalising a new treaty aligned with modern standards.
Singapore was among the first to sign a Double Taxation Avoidance Agreement with Taiwan, and both nations are working on its renewal. Singapore is a key partner in Taiwan’s “New Southbound Policy,” with strong ties in economy, trade, education, tourism, and culture.
