El Salvador and Turkey have begun formal talks on a treaty to eliminate double taxation and curb tax evasion.
This announcement was made by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of El Salvador on 12 May 2025.
The Turkish delegation was led by Ahmet Yıldırım, Head of Department of the Turkish Tax Administration, and Ernesto Morales, Deputy Director of Medium Taxpayers at the Ministry of Finance, represented El Salvador.
The officials conducted negotiations in an atmosphere of respect, cooperation, and mutual understanding, reflecting the commitment of both nations to strengthening their economic and fiscal ties.
Both representatives expressed their willingness and commitment to continue advancing the review of outstanding points, with the goal of successfully concluding the text of the agreement and moving toward its signing as quickly as possible.
The negotiation of this initiative demonstrates the strong cooperation between El Salvador and Turkey, aiming to consolidate a strategic alliance in the economic sphere. Furthermore, these actions will contribute to future agreements in areas such as artificial intelligence and technology.
