The 29th Session of the United Nations Committee of Experts on International Cooperation in Tax Matters (UNTC), held from 15–18 October 2024 in Geneva, announced major advancements in various domains of international taxation.

The session of this Committee membership was dedicated to advancing its 2021-2025 agenda, addressing crucial issues for developing countries, such as digital economy taxation, tax treaties, extractive industries, transfer pricing, environmental and health taxes, wealth taxes, and more.

The UNTC updated the UN Model Tax Convention with new provisions, including introducing service fees and addressing taxation on insurance premiums. Additionally, the UNTC has completed the Fast Track Instrument, which will be presented to the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC).

The UNTC has tackled critical tax areas, including VAT, wealth and solidarity taxes, transfer pricing environmental taxes, crypto assets taxation, and tax and trade agreements.
