Italy’s tax authorities approved the Protocol No. 350036/2024 on 9 September 2024, introducing a model form for the supplementary communication that eligible taxpayers must submit to obtain the tax credit for investments made in the single special economic zone (Single SEZ).
The Article. 16 of the decree-law of 19 September 2023, n. 124 establishes a tax credit for companies acquiring capital goods intended for existing production facilities or those located in the Special Economic Zone in the South, which encompasses the designated areas of Basilicata, Calabria, Campania, Molise, Puglia, Sardinia, and Sicily.
This tax credit corresponds to investments made between 1 January 2024 and 15 November 2024, with a maximum limit of EUR 100 million for each investment project. Notably, investment projects with a total cost of less than EUR 200,000 are ineligible for this tax credit.
Qualifying taxpayers must submit an additional communication electronically to the tax authorities between 18 November 2024 and 2 December 2024 to confirm the realisation of listed investments.
