Estonia approved the income tax treaty with Qatar on Thursday, 30 May, 2024.

The treaty will enhance the tax cooperation between the two nations and will come into force once ratification instruments are exchanged.

The tax treaty aims to eliminate double taxation, prevent tax evasion, support economic relations, and improve bilateral trade cooperation. It also encourages and facilitates investments and trade exchange, and fosters international transparency standards by adopting frameworks for documented financial information exchange.

Signed by HE Ali bin Ahmed Al Kuwari, Qatari Minister of Finance, and HE Tiit Riisalo, the Estonian Minister of Economic Affairs and Information Technology, on 7 March, 2024, the agreement is a first between the two nations.
