On 13 December 2023, the Spanish Tax Agency released the list of companies whose market capitalization value surpassed EUR 1 billion as of 1 December 2023.
The list pertains to financial transaction tax (FTT). The financial transactions tax (FTT) is 0.2% and is imposed on the consideration for acquiring qualifying shares issued by Spanish companies, irrespective of the agents’ residency:
- The shares must be listed on a regulated stock market in Spain or the European Union or on an equivalent stock exchange in a third country.
- The company’s market capitalization value must exceed EUR 1 billion as of 1 December of the preceding year.
The Spanish Tax Agency’s latest includes 51 companies whose shares will be subject to the FTT in 2024.
