On 21 February 2019, the government of Slovak Republic proposed to amend the research and development (R&D) tax regime. The proposed amendment would increase the allowable deduction with qualifying R&D expenditures.
According to proposal, eligible enterprises would be eligible for a 150 percent deduction from their qualifying taxable profits in 2019, it will increase up to 200 percent in 2020 (currently 100).
If taxable profit of an eligible enterprise is insufficient to claim such deduction in full, the enterprise would have the legal right to adjust the balance during the following four tax periods.
