On 2 February 2018, the Lithuanian Parliament issued a draft bill for the ratification of the MLI (the Multilateral Convention to Implement Tax Treaty Related Measures) to Prevent Base Erosion and Profit Shifting. Lithuania submitted its MLI position at the time of signature listing its reservations and notifications and including 55 covered tax treaties.
The MLI will generally apply for a particular Lithuanian bilateral tax treaty after both Lithuania and the other party to the treaty have deposited their respective ratification instruments. However, the MLI itself must first enter into force, which requires ratification by five signatories. To date, four jurisdictions have deposited their ratification instrument.
