Switzerland signed the multilateral convention on mutual administrative assistance in tax matters on the 15 October. This agreement is seen as an important tool in the fight against international tax evasion as it provides for cooperation between tax authorities. Being one of the world’s largest off-shore centres, Switzerland by signing the agreement has contributed to progress in the worldwide struggle against base erosion and profit shifting (BEPS). The G20 and the OECD have put together an action plan that intends to limit tax abuse by individuals and companies.
