The Australian Prime Minister and Environment Minister on 15 October 2013 announce that the government has released draft legislation to repeal the carbon tax for public consultation.
As per the government, the first enactment they will table in parliament a Bill to nullify the carbon tax. Scrapping the carbon tax will leave the average household an expected 550 Australian dollars ($521) better off in 2014-15. Nullifying the carbon tax is required to lessen costs for Australian business and makers in order to help support development, job and worldwide intensity and to ease the costs of living pressures for families.
The carbon tax on fuels used in shipping, rail and air transport, and on synthetic greenhouse gases would be ended by the draft legislation. Also, the Climate Change Authority would be abolished.
