The tax authority of Ireland, the Revenue Commissioners, has updated Part 5.69 of its value-added tax (VAT) manual to explain the VAT treatment related to stock exchange fees. The guidance contains fees for firms trading securities on the Irish Stock Exchange Xetra; primary dealers in Irish government bonds and non-primary dealers in Irish government bonds.
On January 30, the update was released and confirms the following tax rates- trading and regulation fees exempt, but connection fees are subject to VAT at 23%, initial listing and annual listing fees are exempt, 23% VAT for formal notice fees, registered sponsor fees, enterprise Security Market advisor fees, Legal Entity Identifier fees, debt announcement fees, Information products fees and ISEQ index Licensing Agreement fees.
