On 23 March 2020, the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) announced tax relief measures due to coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. The key measures are:

  • the extension of the deadline for the filing of personal income tax returns by 3 months from 31 March 2020 to 30 June 2020.
  • the deadline for submitting corporate income tax returns due in March 2020 is to be extended to one month (For old companies with financial year-end of 30 September 2019).
  • An additional two-month extension for the filing of audited financial statements.
  • the VAT return deadline is to be extended from the 21 April 2020 to the last business day of the following months.
