On 21 March 2019, the Public Revenue Authority issued two circulars (E.2046 / 2019 and E.2047 / 2019) for reducing corporate tax rates and dividend tax rates. These circulars are summarized below:
Circular E.2046:
This circular confirms that the standard corporate tax rate in Greece is 29% for the 2018 tax year, 28% for the 2019 tax year, 27% for the 2020 tax year, 26% for the 2021 tax year, and 25% for the 2022 and subsequent tax years. The Circular also explains that the tax year is determined on the basis of the calendar year in which the taxpayer’s tax year begins if a taxpayer does not follow the calendar year. The circular finally confirms that the corporate tax rate is maintained for credit institutions.
Circular E.20147:
This circular confirms that both the tax on dividend income and the withholding tax on dividends have been set at 10%. This applies to income from tax years that begin on or after 1 January 2019.
