The lower chamber of the parliament has approved a bill in the third reading on 1st June 2016 regarding the changes to the Senate Legislative Measure on Real Estate Acquisition Tax. Particularly the Bill gives that the taxpayer of the real estate acquisition tax is the buyer of the immovable property. The Bill must be approved by the Senate and signed into law by the President for becoming law. The changes would apply as of the first day of the third month following the month in which the Bill was published in the Official Gazette. For example, if the Bill is published in July 2016, it will be applicable from 1st October 2016.
