According to the corporation tax regulations SI 2014/2409, from 1 April 2015 all companies will be subject to the 15% rate. The small profits rate and the marginal relief will no longer be applicable, except for companies with ring-fenced profits from oil and gas. The taxpayer should indicate by checking the relevant box on the tax return if the SME exemption applies or if a compensating adjustment is being claimed.
