Representatives from Cambodia and Qatar conducted the initial round of negotiations for an income tax treaty from 21 to 24 October 2024.
The meetings were co-chaired by Seng Cheasith, Director of Legislation, Tax Policy, and International Tax Cooperation at the General Department of Taxation (GDT), on behalf of Cambodia, and Abdulla Ahmed Al-Sulaitl, head of the Treaty and International Cooperation Department at Qatar’s General Tax Authority.
“The importance of this agreement is to promote the growth of trade and mutual investment, especially the benefits that enterprises in the field of air and water transport between Cambodia and Qatar from this agreement,” Cheasith said.
During the discussions, both parties expressed their commitment to collaborating closely to finalise the DTA as soon as possible.
If an agreement is reached, it will be the first between the two nations and must be finalised, signed, and ratified before it can take effect.
