The Argentine National Executive Branch presented the 2025 Budget Bill to Congress, which made no significant changes to the current tax framework except for eliminating the tax on foreign currency purchases (PAIS tax rate) starting 1 January 2025.

The tax on purchasing foreign currency, which went into effect on 23 December 2019, was initially determined to be in force for five years. However, the Executive Branch indicated in the 2025 budget message that it will not seek an extension of this tax.

Earlier, the Executive Branch published Decree 777/2024, amending the tax rates for certain foreign currency purchases related to payments for specific goods and services made abroad on 2 September 2024. The PAIS tax rate on imports was reduced from 17.5% to 7.5% and applied to foreign freight and transportation services related to essential imports and exports of goods.
